May 19th. 1845.
The court opened pursuant to adjournment Judge of Adams County took the bench, the fore part of the day was spent in organizing the court, the court adjourned at Twelve O. clock.
Court met at Two O’clock pursuant to adjournment Five men were held to bail in the sum of one thousand Dollars each, to make their appearance in court each day of the term, they were for Joseph Smith at Carthage Jail on the twenty seventh day of June 1844,
The names of the men indited and held to bail are as follows, viz Colonel , editor of the Warsaw Signal, John senator , William N. Grover, each being cognizant for the other, after which the court decided that their case would be tried on Wednesday morning the Twenty first May—
Accordingly the notified the witnesses for both parties to make their appearance on said morning at— seven O. clock, the Court then proceeded to other buisness.
Wednesday morning May 21st. Court met pursuant to adjournment, The names of the council for the defence are as follows viz
